Learning Goal: I’m working on a writing discussion question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

Choose one of the texts on Canvas to analyze. You will analyze your text using COLDV in order to understand features of the genre while taking in consideration this text’s rhetorical context.

Your written analysis should be the form of a report. Reports are clearly organized and use titles, subheadings, and bullet points. This should be about 2-2.5 pages single spaced.

1. You will begin by giving the rhetorical information for the text: title, author, date, publication or source, target audience, and purpose.
2. List Content, Organization, Language, Design, and Values separately; identify 2-3 features for each element, include quoted and/or paraphrased text that is an example of each feature, analyze each feature and explain how these features connect to the text’s effectiveness or ineffectiveness.
3. What is your evaluation of the text? Does the author accomplish the purpose of the genre? Is it effective? Explain your ideas.
